Travel ball, club fees, gear, tournament costs; the price of playing organized sports has quietly priced out the kids who could use it most. The Coach Logan Wells Foundation exists to close that gap: helping remove the financial barriers that can keep a young athlete from participating, so a roster spot is decided by a kid's ability and work ethic, not by what their family can afford that season.
Before the Foundation, There Was a Problem Logan Couldn't Ignore
For five years, Logan coached Florida travel baseball, three of them at the high school level. In that time, 50 of his players went on to play college baseball. Seven received scholarships to do it.
But he also watched it from the other side: kids with real talent who never got the chance, because travel baseball can cost thousands of dollars a year once registration, equipment and travel are included, money a lot of families simply don't have. So Logan started paying those costs himself, whatever it took to keep a good kid on a good team.
The Coach Logan Wells Foundation grew out of that, formalizing what Logan was already doing so more kids could get the same shot. Early support from Darrell King, the Early Learning Coalition of Manatee County, and NEXTGEN Magazine helped get it off the ground.
It isn't just about one coach anymore. It's everyone the Foundation touches, all becoming part of the change together, #IAMchange.
More Than a Coach
A native to the area, Coach Wells played at Hillsborough C.C. and prepped at Palmetto High School, earning All-Area, All-County, and All-State honorable mentions before graduating in 2005.
From 2021 through 2025 he served as an assistant coach at Eckerd College, helping recruit and develop collegiate athletes, and has helped more than 15 players earn opportunities to continue playing at the next level. Outside of the foundation, Logan is the founder of Bay Area Baseball and owner of The Spot Athletic Center, a year-round indoor training facility, and he serves as Director of the Nike RBI Program in partnership with Major League Baseball, giving underserved athletes access to high-level coaching and competition. He's also an entrepreneur, owning a marketing company that helps other businesses grow through branding and digital advertising.
Those roles all point back to the same mission: give kids the guidance and the opportunity to reach their full potential, on the field and off it.
The Entrepreneur, The Philanthropist, The Coach
The Entrepreneur built Bay Area Baseball, The Spot Athletic Center, and a marketing company from the ground up, proof that the same drive that builds a business can be pointed at a community instead.
The Philanthropist founded this foundation and directs the Nike RBI Program with Major League Baseball, work aimed squarely at the kids who'd otherwise be priced out or overlooked.
The Coach has spent his career teaching the communication, work ethic, and character that carry players long after the last game, at Eckerd College, at Bay Area Baseball, and everywhere in between.
